Qatar Airways (Doha, Qatar) will be purchasing up to 210 widebody jets from Boeing (Arlington, Va., U.S.), which sets new records as the largest widebody order for Boeing, including the largest order for 787 Dreamliners and Qatar Airways largest-ever order. This purchase, which also includes additional orders for Boeing’s new 777-9, will support approximately 400,000 jobs in the U.S. The order includes:

  • 130 787 Dreamliners, Boeing’s long-range, ultra-efficient widebody airplane family. Ten orders were previously booked as unidentified.
  • 30 777-9s, Boeing’s twin-engine airplane that is designed to set new standards in efficiency.
  • Options for an additional 50 787 and 777X airplanes.

“After two consecutive years of record-breaking commercial performance and with this historic Boeing aircraft order we’re not simply chasing scale, we’re building strength that will allow us to continue to deliver our products and customer experiences,” says Qatar Airways Group CEO Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer.

Qatar Airways currently operates more than 150 Boeing airplanes, including 777 and 787 passenger jets and 777 Freighters. With this purchase, Qatar Airways will become the largest 787 Dreamliner operator in the Middle East.
