Filament winding, tape wrapping equipment focus on reliability, quality
JEC World 2025: Engineering Technology Corp. (ETC) is exhibiting everything from its filament winders portfolio to a new winder control system, emphasizing range, adapatability and high production quality.
Engineering Technology Corp. (ETC, Salt Lake City, Utah, U.S.), a global company providing filament winding, tape wrapping and composite solutions, is exhibiting alongside parent company Zoltek (St. Louis, Mo., U.S.), highlighting various solution offerings related to composites manufacturing.
ETC is displaying its latest equipment advancements including:
- High-speed filament winding machinery
- Automated work cells
- Towpreg and slit tape winding equipment
- Integrated robotic solutions
- FiberGrafiX winding software
- Advanced tensioning creels and resin baths.
ETC is unveiling a new Windows 11-based filament winder control system that targets enhanced productivity, reduces operational costs and boosts machine longevity. Designed to bring aging machines up to the standards of modern, high-performance equipment, it features an intuitive display that combines advanced capabilities with user-friendly controls, ensuring reliability and safety. The control system is available in various retrofit options, making it adaptable to the specific needs of manufacturers.
Of additional note is ETC’s standardized portfolio of filament winders. The company has developed this standard machine product line for cost-effectiveness, reliability and to cover the majority of market needs for filament winding. It ranges from laboratory-scale tabletop winders to multi-spindle automated winders:
- Laboratory-scale tabletop winders, such as the SC filament winder, are ideal for research, education and small-scale manufacturing. These machines have found success in industries like healthcare, where they efficiently produce high-volume, small medical devices.
- Multi-spindle automated winders, such as the SM+ filament winder are reported to be popular for composite-overwrapped pressure vessels (COPV). These winders deliver high output and efficiency, addressing modern labor and production challenges.
ETC welcomes attendees who are interested in discussing production needs and tailored solutions to schedule a one-on-one consultation with its team.
