Graphenano Composites (Murica, Spain), a a subsidiary of the Graphenano Group, presents Gelgraph Gel Coat, the company’s new graphene-based resin that multiplies the properties of conventional gelcoats. Gelgraph, designed for use in composites, is reported to offer greater mechanical, chemical and weather resistance than traditional gelcoats, ensuring durability and protection in industrial and high-performance applications.
Gelgraph Gel Coat is a gelcoat based on unsaturated isophthalic NPG polyester resin with graphene. Some of of its common uses include the nautical industry (boats and marine structures), automotive components, protecting surfaces in harsh industrial environments and construction materials (profiles, beams and rebar). Gelgraph can also be used to develop composite molds and fiberglass-reinforced polyester parts.
Some of its advantages include:
- Chemical and thermal resistance: Graphene reinforces the resin structure, enabling final products to maintain their integrity even under the most demanding conditions.
- Enhanced mechanical strength: Graphene nanoparticles reinforce the molecular structure of the resin, providing a hard layer so that products can withstand high loads and forces without deforming or breaking.
- Corrosion resistance and durability: Composite materials with graphene-reinforced polyester resin achieve high durability, even in aggressive environments or with high exposure to chemicals and corrosive elements.
- Adhesion and flexibility: It can be used applications that require a certain degree of malleability without compromising structural integrity.
- Thermal resistance: Graphene-enhanced gelcoats offer optimal stability at high temperatures and a low likelihood of losing mechanical properties under extreme heat.
In addition to these performance offerings, Gelgraph is said to contribute to reducing the carbon footprint.
Graphene-enhanced gelcoat products available include Gelgraph Gel Coat Iso Airless and Gelgraph Gel Coat Iso Moulds.
